Yankees/Indians 10/8

Deja-vu all over again. A-rod struck out with runners on first and second in the first. Ouch.

What made Joe Torre think that after a sub-par performance in the first game Wang would be better after only three days rest? I don't have all his information, but I can't understand why he didn't start Mussina.

Did the ball hit Shoppach's hand on the bunt?

Anyway, it's only 4-0 after an inning and a half. Against the Yankees, it's nothin'. Just makes 'em mad.

Just got home from the longest day of school ever, and the Yankees are 12 outs away from elimination and 5 runs down.

It's far from over.

Is it wrong for me to want them to lose the NEXT game instead?

The Wang decision is completely perplexing. But the Yankees, and their fans, have been under the misapprehension that Wang is their ace. He gets a ton of ground balls, but he doesn't miss bats. He's a good #2, but he's never going to be consistent enough to be an ace without a large increase in strikeouts.

Whoops, 6-2. Yikes.

How much does this Caray guy LOVE the Yankees? He foams at the mouth when they score, and when Cleveland scores he frames it all from the Yankees' point of view ("And the Yankees are down 5!")

It did not hit his hand. It hit the bat and the bat hit him. His own fault.

AND that guy at first wasn't safe, Mussina had him,

AND Matsui's bat was definitely hit by the catcher's glove.

Ninth inning now...

I have absolutely no comprehension of how Joe Borowski made it all season as the Indians closer, especially as Wedge has a number of young relievers pitching much better.

Aaaaaannnd there it is. The Yankees LOSE.

Big double play for Captain Jetes in the 7th.

I actually feel bad for Torre. He doesn't deserve to be canned for the Yankees' performance this year. Cashman does, if anyone. Torre does, however, deserve to be fired for his bullpen management, but that's beside the point.

I feel bad for Joe Torre too. Georgey publicly announcing he was going to fire him if they didn't win reminded me of Cassie Lewis getting hysterical on our Soccer team during halftime of a game and
telling us that she didn't feel like we were her teammates and she wanted to quit.
Its similar, trust me.

I just think its inappropriate. Your team is working to win a game and you are sitting around on your stupid butt telling the world who you plan to fire.

But no one asks me.

So right, Laura. Did you hear the crowd chanting "Joe Tor-re, Joe Tor-re" late in the game? They'd been chanting "Go Yankees" and "Derek Jeter" earlier -- I thought it was great to hear a crowd chant to support a manager, especially those tough characters at Yankee Stadium during a losing game.

Was that Caray or the other one who could not stop asking elegiac questions every time anything happened in the last few innings -- "Will this be the last time we see Joe Torre make a visit to the mound?" "Will this be the last time we see A-Rod in a Yankees uniform?" "Will this be the last time we see that asinine Sonic commercial with the meat lottery?" (I hope so!)

As bad as Caray was...not having to listen to Buck and McCarver any more this year is the one bright spot for this Yankee fan.
