Sorry, Rob! Sorry, here it is.

What'd we think of Trisha Yearwood?

About dman time. Where's your hubby? Well, 1-0, not bad so far. You're forgiven.

Mom said...

I thought she was working too hard, personally.

Ok, I'm told to be nice. We're sitting here with Claire and Don and Mr. Ripple having a fun evening watching the game. And they're winning! Hot dog. Claire says: we're hoping it gets to the 7th inning and is still close so we can do tequila shots. I'll try to be restrained. Also Spongey may be reading this.

Laura said...

Does anyone remember N'Sync doing it?
That was great.
When was that?

Uncle Don Says,
With his lead off double on the second pitch, JE has semi-cemented the MVP award for the Series, if the Sox win tonight. No, wait, here is JDD. OK he is out of it, he flied out. You cannot award the SMVP in a four game series. Not enough exposure. More later.
Unca Don

Casey says: this leather couch is very comfortable. zzzzz.

Anonymous said...

Claire says: Unca Don is going deaf.

Dad said...

where'd all these hoonie-moonies come from?

Anonymous said...

Unca Don says,
Yorvit did not live up to his Number 8 billing. Both Yogi and Yaz would have brought the run home.
Who says it need glasses?

Mom said...

Laura: Game 3 of the 2004 Series. Google Knows All.

What did you think of Trisha Yearwood?

Dad said...

Laura, Trisha yearwood has more voice than Carrie Underwood. Dont remember Nsync doing it.

Unca Don, Cassie's on the leather couch. Cassie is how she spells it, not Casey.

Unca Don says,
Oh, Oh, I am not so sure about Jacoby now. He grounded out. Neither as I so sure about Julio.
Theo gave him 36 mil for 4 years and now needs to get rid of that, so next April we will have Dustin at SS and "Peanuts" Lowry from Portland at 2B.

Dad said...

Amen to that. Lugo is the weak sister of the team.

Where would i have learned the term "weak sister"? Where did i learn the expression "Hum you chuck"?

Laura said...

Weak sister???!

As the sister with a strong middle child complex, I resent that phrase.

Anonymous said...

Unca Don says,
I was a little tough on Julio (Down by the school yard) last inning. He finished the regular season with 73 RBIs despite batting either first or ninth, and having 1 1/2 months of a terrible average. He had more RBIs than JV or JDD. He is a good glove man. Maybe he is a keeper.

Caleb said...

It's nothing to feel bad about, Laura. Nothing wrong with being the weak sister of the family.

Laura said...

I thought Trisha Yearwood was lame, but my friends always get mad at me cause I hate 95% of music and 99% of singers.
She was fine, but not moving. She didn't give any evidence as to why she was chosen to sing an important song.

Dad said...

Laura, me, too.

UD, I think he is a well below-average glove man. His BA for the year was <.240, no? Plus he's really creepy.

Anonymous said...

Laura - Dad is the weak sister of superheroes. It's a compliment. But I don't understand any of the rest of this.

Anonymous said...

Well said, Laura. I'm right behind you.

Anonymous said...

Compared to this World Series, 9/11 was really not that terrible.

Anonymous said...

Unca Don says:
Did you see that catch by Julio?

Caleb said...

There's a good reason to find Lugo creepy.

All right, there it is. It really isn't as great as I remember it, but I still like it.
If you can look past that it is NSync and they are idiots and that whoever is singing lead is a little too nasly sometimes, its very interesting.

It also takes a realllly long time to load so be patient.

Mom said...

I don't remember them singing it, but I do remember Dad commenting on how good they were at the time.

Mom said...

You're not kidding, Caleb. Ugh.

Caleb said...

And that, kids, is how you slide into home. Mike Lowell is a professional.

Anonymous said...

Unca Don says: No trophy for Ellsbury.

Dad said...

Yup, and I liked manny's slide last night.

I am not gonna outlast this game.

Anonymous said...

I'm sick of this "do we bunt to Ortiz" junk. I guess they have to say something because that's their job. But still.

Remember, Don is hard of hearing.

Caleb said...

Claire, these buffoons have announced 8 Red Sox World Series games, including game 3 in 2004 where Papi was very good at first, and they still think he's a bad first baseman. He DHs cause of his bum knees. He won minor league awards for his defense. He's just not as bad as they think he is.

Dad said...

yeah, Claire.

Dad said...

yeah, Claire.

Anonymous said...

What, Rob?

Anonymous said...

Note to self: no more 12-inch pianists.

Anonymous said...

This blogging thing sure makes the game a whole lot more interesting. Wish we'd thought of it sooner.

Anonymous said...

Caleb - Buffoons? You're being too kind.

Caleb said...

OK, Genie, I don't get it.

Where Luke be at?

Anonymous said...

Caleb,
So a guy walks into a bar and out of his left pocket he pulls a miniature piano and a little guy about a foot tall. Out of his right picket he pulls a lamp.
The bartender comes over and ...
Need any more?

Dad said...

I'll never forget Papi's throw to third to nail Suppan. He should play first once a week.

Mom said...

Luke is a mystery. Last night he was commenting all over the blog, everywhere EXCEPT the game thread. Tonight, no sign of him. I dunno.

Anonymous said...

It's 3 to nothing. They're feeling it now. Must be time for tequila shooters.

Dad said...

We dont have any tequila.

Caleb said...

Jameson's will have to do on this end.

Dad said...

Speaking of Luke: Last time the RS won the WS my beeper went off the next am shortly after he left for school in our beloved minivan. Car accident. Hey! Right down the road! Guess who I found when I got there.
Luke, don't go anywhere in the am.

Caleb said...

We interrupt this World Series Game Thread to bring you breaking news out of New York City:

A-Rod informs the Yankees that he's opting out.

Anonymous said...

I never trust Boras.

Laura said...

Holy Cow!

Regarding Luke:
m usicman3eb87 (10:34:01 PM): i'll be back to the blog
m usicman3eb87 (10:34:02 PM): don't worry
m usicman3eb87 (10:34:09 PM): probably pretty soon
m usicman3eb87 (10:34:13 PM): i'm just a busy guy i guess

I hate how singers think they need to screw up their face to hit a high note. Its all dramatics. You have a better chance with relaxed facial muscles.

Rockies on the board!

Dad said...

If Arod comes to Boston, I leave.

Caleb said...

Ditto, Dad. I'll opt-out of my contract.

Luke Murphy said...

THERE ARE SO MANY NEW POSTS ON THIS BLOG AND I CAN'T KEEP UP!!!!

Anyway, Lonestar was excellent. About 600 times better than Boiz II Menn or however they spell it. Just like Mom said about James Taylor, a lot of the time simplicity is key.

I'm not gonna lie, I want the Rockies to at least tie this game. If nothing else, make the Red Sox earn it.

Now I have to read the above 52 comments....

Caleb said...

Was I the only one who wasn't impressed with James Taylor?

I did like Lonestar, though. Except the guy on the left. They could have done without him.

Mom said...

Here is a link to an article about Boras that won't make you trust him any more than you do now, Don.

Mom said...

I liked Lonestar, too. I even liked the guy on the left with his goofy face.

Hi, Luke!

Anonymous said...

That's what we're talking about. Go, Mike.

Laura said...

Noooo A-Rod. NO NO NO.

Our team is chock full of young talent, we don't need any aging superstars. We especially don't need stupid A-Rod and his strippers and blue lips.

Mom said...

And the announcers won't stop talking about it.

That was me John Henry was tapping to on his Blackberry. I was telling him "DON'T DO IT!"

Caleb said...

A-rod makes yet another out in the post-season, and his team isn't even playing.

Luke Murphy said...

If the Red Sox sign A-Rod, Red Sox nation should literally revolt until he either quits or is traded. I don't know what the best way to do that would be. Something like boycotting Fenway games and NESN, or booing A-Rod everytime he steps out onto the field. Is A-Rod that bad that he really deserves all that? No of course not. I still hate him, but it's more just that RS management should know better than to sign the most hated player playing for the teams biggest rival.

Anonymous said...

Gagne warming up, definitely time for the tequila.

Anonymous said...

Oh crap.

Luke Murphy said...

If Papelbon pulls this off, I think he's gotta be the WSMVP.

Luke Murphy said...

Who were the ALCS and ALDS MVPs?

Caleb said...

I need booze.

Anonymous said...

The last relief pitcher to win WSMVP was Larry Sherry of the L.A. Dodgers, shortly after they moved from Brooklyn. He won a Corvette and that made a big impression on me.

Anonymous said...

Oops, I was wrong. Mariano Rivera, 1999. http://www.baseball-reference.com/awards/postmvp.shtml

Caleb said...

Ellsbury!!!

Laura said...

I have to register in 7 hours for my last semester of college, and I would like everyone to know that I have secured a schedule in which my earliest class will start at 2:00 pm. I will have one class Monday Wednesday at 5:00 and nothing on Fridays.

Just living the dream.

This isn't as great as it sounds, considering I will be using that free time to work. But still. Yayyy.

Luke Murphy said...

So if Papelbon gets this last out, is the MVP Ellsbury or Papelbon?

Anonymous said...

Papelbon over Ellsbury and Lowell. But it's close.

Mom said...

Impressive, Laura.

Luke Murphy said...

Imagine the pressure if it was this exact same situation only game 7.

Anonymous said...

Eat that, Babe!

Mom said...

Now that would be draaaammmaaaa.

The Rockies fans don't give up, though -- you have to hand it to them.

Mom said...

Nice to see Francona drop his usual calm and leap for joy! Did you hear them say, earlier, that he has never lost a World Series game?

Laura said...

Earlier tonight Terry Francona was the only manager in M.L. history to win 7 WS games in a row, so now I assume he is the only manager to win 8??

Laura said...

Hey Woman. Your hair is too big.

Laura said...

I love Theo's goggles.
WHO IS THE MVP?
Oh the suspense.

Laura said...

MIKE LOWELL?! :)

He is crying, I think.

I love him.

Luke Murphy said...

FOR GOD SAKES! SHUT UP BIG HAIRED LADY! SHUT UP BUD SELIG! SHUT UP PHIL CARUSO! WE WANT TO HEAR MIKE!

Mom said...

He is really, really, really pleased. He can't stop grinning. How nice to see.

Mom said...

oh don't ask him THAT.

Caleb said...

Remember in 2004 when they played "At Last" by Etta James, when they won? That was nice.

Laura said...

Blog poll:
Who would you rather see at third?
A classy professional who is easy on the eyes like Mike Lowell, or A-Rod?

Luke Murphy said...

Okay I'm starting to get upset. We have seen way too many other guys and not nearly enough Red Sox.

Mom said...

It is unbelievable -- we have hardly seen the players at all. The talking heads need to go away.

Luke Murphy said...

I like Clint Hurdle.

Mom said...

I think the Tequila must have caught up with the Unca Don-Rob-Claire contingent.

Laura said...

Have I mentioned how thrilled I am with the MVP choice?

Mom said...

Are we at all surprised that it wasn't Josh Beckett?

Caleb said...

Beckett was ALCS MVP. I'm surprised it wasn't Paps.

Fox is ending their coverage. MLB.com has press conference coverage, but not much of the drinking/dancing. If you've got it, go to NESN.
