Polaroid TV. Don't buy one.

Or anything Polaroid, for that matter. They won't send anyone out to service it after it breaks. More later, I wanted to get this up.

Are Barack Obama and Tony Dungy brothers?

Jus' wonderin'.

Hey! Your trees are Blocking My solar Panels

Chop 'em Down! It's the law! It's, like, so warped, on so many levels. I don't even know where to begin. "Hey! I'm a bigger environmentalist than you are!" "Yeah, well, I drive a Prius!" "That's nothing. MY car is all electric."

Sequestering Carbon? Carbon? What's next? Nitrogen? And, get this: The Solar Shade Protection Act. Some people really mean it when they say there oughta be a law.

I am boggled.

Irony, or Poetic Justice

Two years ago, the Sundance Film Festival featured "An Inconvenient Truth". This year, the SFF is, by "concensus", the coldest one ever.

It's snowing in Los Angeles. The freeways are closed.

I know, I know. Global warming makes it colder.

I also know that global trends can't be inferred from local conditions. But I also know that's exactly what the hystericals do.

A New Candidate

It's late, but a new entrant into the presidential sweepstakes should make things exciting.

American Idol

I love this show.

Well, Panda and I walked Cush Hill. He was as energetic and vigorous as he's ever been. We covered most of the trails on the hill side. Panda got lost for a while, and finally found me and ran up to me out of breath. But that didn't slow him down. When we got back to the car, he was reluctant to get in. So we went and walked the other side of the road with him leading the way. Sadly, I didn't have the camera when he found a deer leg, complete from pelvis to hoof, and hauled it the quarter mile, up a steep hill, back to the car. It's four feet long, and he made the fluttering noise with his lips that he makes when he's swimming. He's been gnawing on it in the back yard for the last ten minutes. He shows no signs of discomfort in his gnawing which I don't think would have been the case a couple days ago.

For you Grammar Nutz

My favorite is "between he and I." It's also the favorite of many sportscasters. Anyway, click here.

Valse Macabre

Here. The appalling thing, or rather one of many, is this Human Rights Commission bureaucrat will be forced to rule against free speech and for intolerance. If she doesn't, she'll have to fear for her life. The Muslims will kill her.

Mark Steyn on the subject. He's facing persecution on similar charges.

A landmark number

The blog had its 25,000th visit at 9:03 this morning from a Verizon user in Philadelphia -- Caleb? Jason?

A Soldier/Blogger's Last Post

Please read this. It is the posthumously posted last entry of a soldier/blogger killed in Iraq. It's not political. It is certainly a reminder of how magnificent people can be, even when facing their deaths.

Stay the hell out of Florida!

"So, temperatures in many counties are expected to drop below 28 degrees for four or more hours, Mowry reported.
The conditions can kill sensitive vegetation as well as harm small animals left outdoors without shelter."

So, watch, please, for sensitive vegetarians who might be harmed by this horrible manifestation of gorebal warming. Also, small animals. The smaller, the more likely to be harmed. Please, take them into your homes. Warm them. They are not at fault. They are simply victims.

Readings for New Year's Day

Here is an absolutely fascinating essay in the New York Times that stands a lot of our most basic ideas about love and marriage on their heads. Plus, it is both touching and funny.

And here's another one, also from the Times, not about love but just as fascinating. Worth thinking about and learning from, especially on a New Year's Day.

Panda went skiing today.

Well, to be more precise, he went trotting along with me and Dad while we were skiing at Adams Farm. I wish I had a picture, but the camera waited until we were out there to tell me that it wants new batteries. You will just have to imagine a happy dog in the snow. It would have done your hearts good to see him out there bounding along, tail waving, ears alert, eyes eager, happiness in every line and every movement of his body. He didn't get tired, he didn't get out of breath, and nothing seemed to hurt. My New Year's Resolution is to take him out to ski or hike every single chance I get.

And what are your New Year's Resolutions? The comment section is the place to post them.
