A new Naval officer

At the beautiful George Eastman House, Mom and Dad fasten on the epaulettes ...

... and Uncle Don administers the oath.

"I do solemnly swear that I will support and defend the Constitution of the United States against all enemies, foreign and domestic; that I will bear true faith and allegiance to the same;

that I take this obligation freely, without mental reservation or purpose of evasion;

and that I will well and faithfully discharge the duties of the office upon which I am about to enter. So help me God."

The presentation of the commission

and the first salute.

Celebrating afterward . . .

A proud family.

Mrs. Pfohl's team does it again!

Dad and I ran into Mr. Sherry at school last night (we were there for chorus rehearsal) and we were trying to figure out how many SE teams have been to Worlds. Maybe 13? (Eight for Mrs. Pfohl, two (??) for Mr. Seddon, two for Mrs. Longman, that one team that went to Arizona a long time ago . . . any more?)

Veterinarians in the Family

Four and a half years later . . .

James Herriot's son, Dr. Alf Wight, is the most entertaining commencement speaker I've heard since Alex Erath.

Caleb gets his hood . . .

and his diploma . . .

and a smile from Dr. Wight.

Kate gets her hood . . .

and her diploma (and who's that smiling guy in the background?)

It's a dazzlingly happy time . . .

With friends Kate and Vincente (who belong to Darwin)

I stole this picture from somebody else, who took it at the big UPenn commencement that morning.

I stole this one, too. Veterinarians having fun with rectal sleeves!

Dinner that night at Chifa . . .

Two of the newest, happiest vets around.

More posts coming soon, with plenty of pictures of events in Rochester, I promise!

Happy Mother's Day!

Now let's all go around the table and say what we are thankful for.

Dad's Rescue Service

Will extricate you from whatever ridiculous situation you've gotten yourself into now. Call day or night. Day AND night. Offer good until sometime in your mid-30's, probably, at the rate you're going.
