Dang. Manny out at the plate. Dang. A bloop double.
Dang. A ripped single to right.

It could all end here in the first, folks.

But it didn't, and Pedroia is on to start the third.

Aw, Youk, ya swung at ball three.

THAT was a homerun. The announcers are seeing instant replay and "can't tell" that it's clearly a homerun, making them even worse than the umps. And I think they're just doing it so they can attack Manny for not running on what he thought was a homerun. I'm swearing a lot right now.

Wow, I can't believe that comment was written by Caleb. I could have sworn it was me.

How can a ball that hits over the vertical part of the wall NOT be a home run?

I effing HATE Tim McCarver. So Manny's a doof. WE DON"T GIVE A SHIT!!!!!!!!!!!!

Oh, Coco. You're confused.

So we got rid of Millar and Nixon and Gonzalez and replaced them with Lugo and Drew and big contracts. Hm.

Anybody know if ESPN radio is in synch with Fox? Is espn RADIO ON xm?

i must find out.

You can try it, but I'm sure they're all slightly different.

McCarver and Buck explained last inning that it has to hit beyond the yellow pad to be a homerun, which I'm fairly certain is not the case in other parks...but if that is the case, I guess maybe it wasn't a homerun. I don't really know.

For the record, I love Kevin Millar and Trot Nixon, but don't miss their bats in the lineup at all. I'd be happy to have had Gonzalez back for a year or two instead of Lugo, though.

There isn't a dime's worth of difference between Nixon/Millar's stats and Drew's stats.

He said without looking it up.

Dad said...

Did you hear McCarver on Lugo's boot of the grounder, RIGHT IN FRONT OF PEDROIA?

Omigod. The man is a moron. And Lugo looks worse than ever. In the field. At the plate.

Nixon's '07: .251/.342/.336

Drew's: .270/.373/.423

Definitely more than a dime's worth of difference. I didn't include Millar, since he can't play right, and he's not starting over Youk or Lowell. Drew's D is probably a little better than Trot's at this point, and to everyone's surprise he was healthy the entire year. Trot might have had a chance to boost his numbers if he hadn't been relegated to the bench after 3 months.
