Need a baseball fix?
Don't forget the Sox spring opener against the Twins tonight at 7. There won't be a lot of star power, but Papelbon will be starting it and we should get a look at Seanez, Riske, MDC, and Hansen, all of whom are scheduled to pitch.
Actually, it appears to be on FOXN. At least, that's what the guide days.
I've been looking for some Johnny Damon quotes that I saw in the last 24 hours about how it's not the same in Boston now that "everybody's" gone, blah, blah, blah, but I can't find where the hell i read them. He sounded like he was having trouble letting go.
Which would people prefer? The Portland Sea Dogs at the Binghamton Mets? Or the Pawtucket Red Sox at the Syracuse Sky Chiefs? While we're waiting for cash flow to rebound, I'm sure we can afford a minor league game.
I'd definitely prefer the PawSox and Syracuse. What do we think about the ST games in Philly? I wish I knew who usually plays in those games.
The most impressive part of last night's game was Coco. He led off the game with a single, then got a double and a triple in his next two ABs. They pulled him before he could hit a HR. The pitchers mostly got hit pretty hard, but only by the better hitters in the Twins lineup.
Also interesting was the first WBC game last night, Korea v. Taiwan. No English announcers made it difficult to follow, but there were some very passionate Korean fans there, and some incredible defensive plays. Should be a fun tournament.
DOn't really want to travel all the way to Philly for an ST game.
Coco's double would have been a single normally. He just never stopped at first. Kiss my ass, Johnny.
China and Japan were playing this morning in the Tokyo dome. I keep hearing how big baseball is in Japan. But the stadium was 1/4 full! WTF? What's the truth?
both games are in the early afternoon of Sat and Sun. Decent tickets are still available at between 15 and 30 a piece. We could probably get better tickets, too (for 30, but closer) if we didn't all sit in a row.
As for Japan, there were only ~500 fans at the Taiwan/Korea game (but it was 1500 miles from either country). No explanation for the Japan/China turnout. That's strange.

apparently not. Weird.
Here's the NESN ST schedule, which starts on Saturday for some reason. Oh well, I'll let you know how it goes.

OTOH, if we could see two games and the vet school it might be worth it. Do you know game times? How about tickets?
