Papi

It really was sweet to see him hit last night. Watching the night before, I was struck by how much he is loved in Boston. Standing Os at every at bat. Wow. Could you imagine what it would be like in New York if A-Rod went 40 games without a home run? Would they stand and cheer him on or would they boo him unmercifully?

Well, I'm not sure. They would definitely boo A-Rod, but would they boo Jeter? Probably not? I hope not? Papi's homer was great. Jason and I weren't watching the game but as we were logging on to boston.com to read the game updates I said to him that tonight was Papi's night and that we were going to read that he had gotten a homer. And I was right! Hah!

Good point, but it seems like I remember them booing Jeter two years ago when he got off to such a slow start. Even if they didn't, I think the outpouring of support for Papi on Tuesday night was remarkable.

haha, dad, that was about 5 years ago, not 2. But yeah, they booed him. And, I'm not sure old Papi is back, he still looked like crap the rest of last night. We'll see.

Yeah they booed Jeter in '04 when he went 0/36 or 1/35 or something like that. Actually, I think they might have been booing him in a game against the Red Sox?

Definitely going to the Sox website now to watch the video of Papi's HR.
