Big Papi and Little Papi

John Papelbon is something else. David Ortiz is too. Schilling ain't so bad either.

I haven't seen the ninth yet. The eighth was so draining I had to go to bed. Little Papi is where he ought to be. Maximum effort for 10-20 pitches. michael Young was baffled.

Middle relief, as always, is frightening. I can't keep romero and pinero straight but I don't trust either of 'em. Give me Gabbard, Snyder and Hansack.

Joe "Arm speed is the key" Morgan is painful. "Blah blah blah Kenny Lofton really know how to play the game." Then Kenny Lofton gets doubled off first on a routine fly ball for the third out. When they come back from break, not a word about it!!! later on, Kenny executes a bunt. "Blah Blah Blah Kenny Lofton Really knows how to play the game" Jesus, what a jerk. My biggest memory of Kenny Lofton is the game (from 04 alcs?) where he missed the ball in center with Mariano on the mound and mariano holds his arms open at his side and shouts, "Catch the Ball!" Hee-hee.

Millar had a good day.

Dad I think the game you're thinking of was a regular season game in 04 in which we had a 9th inning comeback off Rivera and won something like 3-2. That was after Rivera had blown a bunch and he was really frustrated and not too happy with Lofton I don't think. Yeah Joe Morgan is an absolute tool. I dunno if I quite agree with you though about YES and NESN. Michael Kay is excellent but the other guy's on YES aren't. I'd rather watch a game with Remy and Orsillo having a good time then listen to those guys speculate endlessly about stuff they don't know.

I think it would be interesting to do a time study of How much of NESN's air time is devoted to promoting something else that will be on NESN. It seems to me to be promo after promo. There seems to be a lot more meat and potatos on YES, and a lot less fluff. Now, I admit, this is all an impression, and I could be wrong.

In any event, it's opening day at fenway and I'm psyched. The DVR is programmed.

I'm psyched too. Psyched for our lineup now that JD Drew is involved, and psyched for our starting rotation now that Matsuzaka is in it. Ya know last year we had 37 starts made by assorted journeyman/minor league pitchers who combined for a 6.71 ERA? This year 30-35 of those starts will now go to Matsuzaka. The potential weaknesses of the team I think are the #5 starter, the bottom of the order, and middle relief.

Dad I agree that NESN probably does more promos than YES, but YES still spends a decent amount of time promoting its own programming. They have a lot of commercials for Mike and the Mad Dog, Centerstage, Yankeeography, etc. I don't know why but it just doesn't really bother me that much. I'd rather those commercials than stupid beer commercials or something like that. Maybe i'm just younger and more used to all this commercialism than you are. Heh.

I will say that I do like John Flaherty a lot and his commentary is good. It's Ken Singleton and Paul O'Neill and a couple other guys who I don't like as much. NESN also has Tom Caron and sometimes Dennis Eckersley, don't forget that. Those guys are great. Yes, we do also have Jim Rice and Gary Disarcina(spelling?), but YES has David Justice so it almost evens out.
