So long, #38.

It looks like Schilling's gonna have to call it a career.

Love him or hate him, there is no denying that Schilling lives life to the fullest. His blog posts are more interesting than what the sportswriters come up with. Writers hate him because he puts out more interesting stuff than they do. He provides the performance AND the analysis.

I hope he tries to come back.

I agree, but....

"I’ve been given and been blessed with far more than any one person deserves, far more."

Who gave you your 95 mph fastball Curt? And who gave you that splitter? Who dedicated countless hours to pitching, thinking about pitching, watching video, and taking notes? Who gave you the guts to pitch game 6 in '04 so brilliantly on one leg when everything was on the line? Was the surgery that Dr. Morgan gave you before that game a gift, or a trade? And finally, what the hell could possibly determine how much a man deserves, other than that man's own ability and effort?

Curt, you deserve MORE, not less.

I can't think of a sight more sad than a man of heroic achievement calling his accomplishments gifts.
