By the way, the host is Nobel Prize laureate Paul Berg. As my professor said, this video "didn't quite" destroy his career.

Hilarious! Completely apart from the scientific aspect, which pretty thoroughly escapes me, this video is a time machine to 1971. I had forgotten that we looked like that, but that is EXACTLY how we looked.

Well, maybe minus the feathers and balloons, at least most of the time.

I don't know what was more ridiculous, the ribosome, the T Factor, or the guy who was trying to sing. Mom and Dad, were hippies really that weird?????

Dad said...

No, they weren't, Luke. They were pioneers. They truly hated poverty, war and injustice, and were the first group of people to do so. They are responsible for many of the more pleasant aspects of modern society such as, for instance, hugs. The reason the Boston Red Sox all hug each other after one of them throws out a baserunner is because the hippies showed everyone how wonderful it was to hug each other on totally meanngless occasions. I hate to think how heartless and cruel the world would be if hippies hadn't existed.

Peace!
