Can you punctuate either of these sentences? I stole them from my friend Jay Nordlinger.
Jane while John had had had had had had had had had had had the teacher's approval.
That that is is that that is not is not.
The second is the easier. I'll put a hint as the first comment.

OK, I'll bite. Here's the first one:
Jane, while John had had "had," had had "had had;" "had had" had had the teacher's approval.
Does somebody else want to try the second one?
Second one's easy. Love the solution to the first one, though. That had me stumped.

(can you use a period? That second one works a lot better with a period instead of a semicolon.)
