On to States!

Luke's Odyssey of the Mind team came in first today, so they are Binghamton-bound. What a great solution they have this year: beautiful props, some amazing technical stuff, great costumes, good acting -- even singing! I'll get a few pictures up soon, but meanwhile, I did figure out their competition times in Binghamton (the tournament schedule is posted at www.nysoma.org)

They will have spontaneous at 8:20 a.m. (naturally -- what IS it with S-E teams and early spontaneous assignments??) Their long-term performance will be at 1:20 p.m. in the Mandela Room in the University Union. See you there!

Lucy and I traveled to Oneonta OM most specifically to see Luke's team, and to support S-E teams in general.

And we were not disappointed -- they were spectacular, in that they overcame the two great difficulties of the vehicle problem -- their vehicle worked, and performed all necessary maneuvers, and they performed their skit with wonderful booming voices, so the audience (and not incidentally the judges) could hear and understand them. Very creative and talented team -- best costumes I saw all day, wonderful acting, beautiful props, including a constantly scrolling message board -- don't know how they did that!
So, you readers of the Murphy blog, it would be well worth the trip to Binghamton March 18 to catch this performance, though I have a feeling you might get a second chance in Ames Iowa for the world competition!
