The Omnivore's Delusion

Please read this, if you haven't already. It is one of the best things I've ever read about modern agriculture.

If there's anything I can't stand, it's a foodie.

Eh, there's being a foodie and there's being a foodie. I know plenty of foodies who don't care whether it's organic or vegan, or how it was made or where it came from, they just want to know how it was used and how it tastes. I'm pretty sure that's what a foodie is. I think what you can't stand are snobs. But maybe I'm wrong, and you can't stand people who like good food.

I know foodies who just care about how it tastes, and that's fine with me. But unfortunately I know far more foodies who are obsessed with organic/vegan/grass-fed/humanely raised/unprocessed/local/etcetera to such a degree that I don't think they even remember to taste the food by the time they finally stop talking about it long enough to eat it. Maybe we need different words for the second group -- but they are the ones who drive me nuts.
