There has been much discussion about "eating" Lugo's contract. All of it is wrong. To wit: They are going to pay Lugo the remaining $15 million, or whatever it is, regardless of whether they DFA him. The only variable is whether they will have a decent shortstop. The two choices: Pay Lugo and have Green/Lowrie at short, or payLugo and have Lugo/Lowrie at short. That makes it easy.
Really enjoying 2009 Red Sox baseball.
