Greetings to all the recent visitors who have found our family blog while searching for news of Nornew's activities in the Marcellus Shale. The information you've given has been enormously interesting. It is unclear whether the commenter "anonymous" is one or more people. If you'd like to identify yourselves in some way (i. e., anonymous1) please feel free.
Our experience with Nornew has been limited. We have a 130 acre farm and were approached by Nornew to lease them the mineral rights last year. While we asked for, and got, more than they were offering, it appears from some of the information you've provided that we signed for far less than some others. A post below has some pictures and information about the recent seismic testing they did on the roads that bound our farm.
Please feel free to leave comments or information that pertain to Nornew's activities in any way. From all appearances, Nornew is drilling wells and building pipelines at a furious pace. We'll be happy to provide more pictures and news as we get it. If there is something in particular that we can tell you, let us know. In the meantime, I'll be trying to figure out how to buy stock on the OSE.

I have made most of the anonymous comments, but i know that you have many visitors from Norway to your excellent blog. More fotos and information regarding Nornew would be most obliged. If there is something you want us to find for you, please ask.
The most interesting for us Norwegians are the actual drilling sites, and information on how deep they are aiming at each location. New pipelines and wells connected to the pipelines. Info from local newspapers and other Nornew related info are welcome.

BS, your english is excellent. thanks for all the links. I will try to do my best to provide you with information. But, really, I've learned more from you all than I knew before. Here is a question: Is the interest in Nornew (NEC) a recent development or has it been going on for a while and we only noticed it finally because of the blog post about the seismic testing?

If you search on Nornew you should find 391 wells in the state. About 300 of them are located in Chautauqua County which is not near here. The rest are mostly within 10 to 15 miles of us. You can find well depths, orientation, maps and more at this site. I've only taken a quick look at it but there is a lot of information.
I'll try to post pictures and local stories from time to time. If the seismic testing brings them closer to us or on our property, I'll be able to provide much more.

Can anyone explain this quote to me? I realize Bcfe is Billion cubic feet equivalent. does per location mean per well? If so, how would this translate to cubic feet per acre? Thanks!

We are about three or so miles from a well that is being drilled now. There are many wells within ten miles of us. The seismic testing they did ran right by our house and they appear to be headed in this direction.

NEC is the stock winner in the Norwegian stockmarket right now, due to a giant oil discovery on som neighboor block fields in Brazil!!
Yes. Up ~ 13% on Tuesday and another 4% today.
Comparing NEC to a few of the other oil and gas explorers involved in the Marcellus Play, in terms of reserves and growth in revenue makes me think NEC is way undervalued.
Comparing NECs US assets value with this deal, yes NEC is way undervalued.
Norwegian media and analysts seems to at last have noticed the potential and the value of the Appalachia area.

The buyers focus wasn't production, but to get access to this promising area.

HI, BS. #26057 is about three miles from us. We drove by there last night, but it was dark and we couldn't see anything. None of the wells is ours. Yet. We're keeping our fingers crossed.

The seismic testing ran along route 14 and the road between route 14 and the blue teardrop that lies west of the two roads. So they are certainly searching for places to drill that are east of the present line of wells.

BS, I briefly visited the closest well site yesterday. No one was there so I didn't get up close, but the line from the well extends to the road and has not been hooked up yet. The pipeline they are building, I've been told, will hook up to a bigger pipline in DeRuyter, not far away. I'll come up with pictures and more info once farm work has leveled out. A week or two.
I can't find a key to these maps. What do the different colors of the droplets signify? And why are some of the markers pushpins?
The blue droplets are wells with "Permit Application Date"
The red are wells with "Spud/Start Drilling Date"
The green pushpins are wells with "Total Depth Date"
The light blue are Well Completion Date.
If you click on the droplets you can see the API Well Number, name and status.
Zoom in and out maybe then its easier to use.

The Marcellus shale isn't the only target. I your county they are mainly targeting Herkimer and Oneida formation. The Trenton Black river is also an promising play in your area.
40k must be a very best "best case" scenario. The price increase for leases in Pennsylvania this year and the prices in the Barnet shale Texas leads the way.
The leasing is one side of the story, if and when the production starts thats when the real cashflow begins.

Supply and demand in the energy markets makes what you think is a bubble grow. The economic growth in third world contries, and their demand for both energy and food is not going away any time soon.
Maybe peakoil is the real problem, and not Global Warming?
BS, Global Warming is certainly a swindle, but so is peakoil. We use more and more oil, and yet we have larger and larger reserves. The supply of oil is, for all intents and purposes, infinite. Witness the recent large discoveries in north Dakota, Brazil, and the Gulf of Mexico.
I agree that the demand from developing countries won't go away soon, but it's really nothing new. Demnad for energy has always been on the rise. The fact that it has spurted ahead of supply is a result of a couple of decades of low energy prices, and will only stimulate more supply and substitution, as is made evident by the zeal with which energy companies are pursuing energy of all kinds. Man has always responded to shortages with increased supply, and it will happen this time, with oil and energy, and corn and feedstuffs, and other commodities as well. When it does, 2,3,4,8,10 years from now, energy stocks will plummet. And the surest way for energy stocks to plummet would be for me to go and buy some! Of course, I did buy Norse, but at least i can keep an eye on them.

we have been approached by Nornew for a right of way for their pipeline. We own 50 acres which falls in the middle of the projected pipelin from Preston to Afton. They offered us 12.00 a foot for the row. An attorney told us to aslk for 30.00 a foot, and to have the payment on our non drilling lease increased from 5.00 an acre to 1,000.00 an acre. Has anyone out their signed for row? If you did, how much did they pay and how wide is the row. Nornew said 50 feet to work , then down to 30 feet. The attorney says 50 feet to work, then down to 15 feet row. We are so confused about all of this! Anyone with answers?
