The most exhausting Thanksgiving weekend I have ever spent. And it will not stop until the thirty cows and heifers that are still outside are inside at the end of the week.
One more thing to do. I want to make sure, children, that I taught you this lesson. When an adult three or more decades your senior addresses you and says, "Hi, (your name)", you would never say, "Hey." Right? Right? I taught you that one, didn't I?

I'm more of a "hello" person when it comes to adults.

I am frankly mystified by this issue, but can only conclude it must have been one of my kids, Laura.
It is truly sad to see a mother have such little faith in her children. I'm weeping.
The C'ger "children" alternately astonish and delight me. Would that they did the same for their mother.
Up here in Maine,some of us Murphies have nephews who greet elders by saying "Nice to meet you, sir." Upon leaving, the said nephew shakes the elder's hand and says, "It was a pleasure to meet you, sir." Nice job, Jim and Mary Ellen.

I noticed that same thing myself. Meanwhile, down in Ct., there was a certain mother who, when the boy was young, instructed him before every encounter with an elder, "Now go shake his hand."
Imagine whoever was offended at being "heyed" at the Central New York Murphys' 2007 Thanksgiving celebration will head to Maine for 2008!
By the way, was there booze in the pumpkin pie sent home with us? It was startling (but wonderful) as a breakfast food.
We put booze in everything.

Whoops. Claire, I often noticed a certain Ct. mother who desired her youngster to be one of those young people who looked you in the eye and shook your hand and didn't "hey". She accomplished this with demure and quietly stated instruction and was successful. How he's a chip off the old blockhead.
