Not as cute as a bug's ear

What am I looking at here?

A Rapid Rhino, successor to the Rhino Rocket, replacing tampon technology with balloon technology. It is used to control stuck pig types of nosebleeds. The spots on my shirt are blood.

Dad had a half-hour nosebleed Tuesday night that we were able to stop. Then Wednesday morning he had another one -- very copious -- that went on for several hours. I came home from work to take him to the ER; the kitchen looked as if somebody had been murdered. The PA at the ER tried vasoconstrictors and cold compresses, but though it had slowed by then it didn't stop. So they put that giant thing in his nose. It was very very uncomfortable at first and not pleasant after that, but so far it has done the trick. Heading to an ENT in the morning to have it removed and see if the bleeding resumes. No obvious reason for the bleeding, no injuries or anything, but I wonder about some violent sneezing he's been doing since he had a cold earlier in the month.

Did Dad take a selfie?

What's the word from the ENT?

Is it a selfie if you use a mirror? A reflective selfie?

The ENT was a forty-something blond NP with four kids (maybe there should be a FOUR kid bonus!) who knew her stuff inside and out and was one of the best medical providers I've ever seen. She poked around and looked around and there was really only one small insignificant spot to cauterize. If she had put my Rapid Rhino in, it wouldn't have hurt.
If you get a severe nose bleed, Pinch your nose for a full 15 minutes, leaning forward, not backward, before checking to see whether it has stopped.

Can something be VERY copious? Doesn't copious imply very?
