Two amazing videos
for different reasons . . .

2. I ended up linking to the YouTube page because the video wouldn't embed properly. Just go there and watch it. You might want to mute the music, but the pictures are astounding.
The surgeon at the table is played by a second midget, who is highly flexible. These exist. He is standing at the table because the bottom half is connected to the table. At 0:05, you can see a quick outpouching of his abdomen - this is the midget bringing his legs up into the body of the character, leaving the legs of the character attached to the table. He is then "cut in half" and falls forward onto the table. Again, there is an entire midget in that torso. That's why it's so thick. They play around with him. This midget either has long arms or hooks his arms into fake arms that allow him to elevate his body off the ground. They then take the torso to the floor and bring the legs over.
While the magician is standing in front of the body, the midget slides his legs down into the characters legs, which are prosthetics below the knees. He can then stand up and hop around as needed. Notice he is skinnier at the end, because his legs are no longer in his torso.
