Dad will like this

and Laura should print out a copy and send it to those folks in Philly who gave her a ticket for improperly recycling her garbage.

Are you a live independent free-thinking person? Or are you a slave to the government's whims and fantasies?

Sorry, but people who believe that recycling helps to save the planet are stupid.

I've never forgotten that visit back in the 90s from my college friend who worked in some recycling-related post in Minnesota and who came here to study recycling practices in Chenango County. She told me -- all the way back then, even though enthusiasm for recycling was at its height at that time, recycling was her job, and she is one of the most passionate environmentalists I've ever known -- that recycling of most items is more expensive and less beneficial for the environment than ordinary trash disposal and is simply not worth the cost. She was trying to work on changing that (which is why she was here, studying something-or-other they were doing at the Chenango County landfill) but she said that realistically, when all costs were taken into account, she did not think that recycling most items would ever become a sensible proposition. Looks as if she was right.

"Recycling is cheaper no matter how much it costs!"
