Too many bees

This is supposed to be an ad on Craigslist. I am not sure I quite believe it, but it's funny, in a horrifying sort of way.

For all of the horse people out there:

(Mom-that's you!)

We had one of our cast parties in a stable! (Well, not IN a stable. It was adjacent!)

This horse had crazy eyes.

And a crazy cat!

And a puppy for good measure!

What I've been doing for the last 3 months...

I'm a doofus and can't remember to take any pictures. These are mainly stolen from Anna and other various backstagers. Also, these pictures aren't in the order I want them. I hate blogger.

Arnold Roth's poster.

One of the sarcophagi close up.

One night Anna and I were supposed to help with makeup. We weren't very helpful, as you can see.

Some tombstones.

They let me use power tools. Hehehehe.

Backstage.

Pretty cute.

Laura used to gabble like this, but she didn't do it at the top of her lungs. She used a conversational, musical tone, interspersed with laughter, exclamations of surprise, and occasional pauses to let an imaginary conversational partner reply. I am pretty sure, though, that she and this baby were speaking the same language.

Oops.

As the first commenter said, "You sound like a sack full of crazy."

How smart are the Red Sox?

I'd say, "Way smarter than any other team."

Way smarter than any other team.

Not that I like the ownership troika. I wish they were less visible. But...

Where were the other teams when Brad Penny and John Smoltz were available? Why do we have seven or eight (Buchholz, Bowden) starting pitchers who are major league ready when the other teams are scrambling for four or five?

It's almost like it's not fair.

My hat is off. Or, as Bert Blyleven said today on MLB Home Plate, "My hat goes out to them."

Eleven in a row!

I rock!

You guys will NEVER catch me.

Uh.

Listen. Wait 'til these people are running your health care.

This is one of those stranger than truth things. Could this really be happening? Do they really count the minutes up one by one? "Oops, sorry, but you missed 180 minutes by five. You have to do the whole day all over again."

Beware. Just beware.

Dinner!

A turkey pot-pie from free-range, hormone-free, antibiotic-free, additive-free, preservative-free, trans-fat-free turkeys. Also, no nuclear power or genetically-modified feeds were used for raising these turkeys. The turkeys did not have their tails docked. Furthermore, no turkeys were harmed in the making of this turkey pot pie. Transportation to market for the pie was accomplished with fossil fuel-free vehicles.

Edna Goes Camping, Pt. 1

Edna went camping with us this weekend at the DAR. She said she'd like to go but probably wouldn't spend the night.
Beedle e deet-de dee! Two Ladies!

And I'm the only man. Ja!

A game of war. A little surreptitious bottom of the deck dealing helps insure that the war doesn't last forever. And it's not the answer, either.
[Edit by Mom: Behind Grandma, you can see her bed. After the card game she asked to try it out, so we helped her in. She said she was just testing it and wasn't planning to sleep, but once she settled in, she went straight to sleep and napped until almost dinner time. After she woke up, we asked her if she still wanted to go back to Sunbridge that day. She firmly declared that she'd just as soon wait until the next day to go back -- so that's what we did.]

Mom, er, Edna, really liked playing with the fire. If she couldn't reach it, she'd tell you what she wanted done.

Edna Goes Camping, Pt. 2

You can enter the pictures in any order you like, but Blogger will decide what order they publish in. It rained all night, and the bathrooms were a few hundred feet away, so mom had a few fun rides through the rain. Whenever I tipped her up onto her back wheels, she'd let out a little shriek.
But this is the proper technique for pushing a wheelchair over rough terrain, minus the flip-flops, which are unapproved foot coverings. If you leave the front wheels down, they will stop you at the first rock and propel your passenger forward.

All was wet the next morning.

Cassie explains a Kindle to Edna.

So tired after a big day. When asked why she didn't think she would spend the night, she said, "Because I didn't know it would be so much fun!"

Edna Goes Camping, Pt. 3

Edna kept the floor clean, all by herself.
A snack while she rests from the exertion of fire-poking.

Laughin' about men, probably.

More fire poking. She wouldn't stop until it started raining again.

Mom/Edna/Grandma called it an adventure. She is almost incapable of having a bad time. All of us are looking forward to doing it again.

Good Red Sox Stuff

Penny, Ortiz, Drew, Green/Lugo, Pitchers. He could have added the resurgent Okajima to the discussion.

There has been much discussion about "eating" Lugo's contract. All of it is wrong. To wit: They are going to pay Lugo the remaining $15 million, or whatever it is, regardless of whether they DFA him. The only variable is whether they will have a decent shortstop. The two choices: Pay Lugo and have Green/Lowrie at short, or payLugo and have Lugo/Lowrie at short. That makes it easy.

Really enjoying 2009 Red Sox baseball.

It's OK. He meant the 18 year-old daughter.

Oh, well, in that case. Sorry, David. I didn't realize you meant the older daughter.

But I still think you're one of the stupidest people to ever make it in show business.

Red Sox 7, Yankees 0 on the Season.

Great game last night. The play by Green that doubled Swisher off first was outstanding. The Red Sox are something like 24-9 with Green at short and 11-14 with Lowrie or you-know-who.

Swisher is a very unfinished product. The yankees announcers minced no words about the ball he missed in right.

Lugo has to go.

And I still can't get over the love the fans show for Papi. I really have never seen anything like it. He has to be the most loved Boston sports star ever. The competition would include Doug Flutie, Yaz, Ted Williams, Larry Bird, Bobby Orr, and Bob Cousy.

Baby, It's Cold Outside

But remember, the climate is not the weather.

The PERFECT Explanation

From James Taranto's "Best of the Web Today":

"And, finally, I looked around our world and I thought, you know, we are in just so many deep holes that everybody had better grab a shovel and start digging out."--Hillary Clinton, explaining why she accepted appointment as secretary of state, "This Week With George Stephanopoulos," June 7

Hm. Maybe the shovels aren't big enough.

Whack-a-Kitty

There's more where that came from, including a whack-a-ferret. But no whack-a-squirrel.

Saving Squirrels

Did anyone else notice that in the bottom of the second inning of the Red Sox game, a shot of a squirrel scampering around in the outfield was immediately followed by a shot of the signs behind home plate advertising www.savingsquirrels.com? (Apparently it has something to do with Monroe Shocks and Struts.)

Coincidence? I think not.

Frost in June

This is just a test.

Edit: We had a frost yesterday morning. A pretty good one. A JUNE one. July is the only month in which I have not seen a frost on this farm. It is also the only month in which I've never run the heating system.
