Rome 3

The Pantheon. The ceiling of the Pantheon is a dome, and in the center of the dome is an open hole. We went in after a bit of rain, and the floor was all wet. It seemed to me that they should cover the hole, but no one ever asks me.
The Roman Forum.
Jupiter?
The Tomb of the Unknown Soldier.
Casi Di Augusto.

I have hundreds of pictures if anyone wants to see more. I understand if you don't, because it can be really boring to look at other people's vacation photos.

Rome 2

At the Coliseum.

Coliseum Kitty. He thought he was a lion.
Trevi Fountain. It was much prettier at night, but none of my night pictures came out.
Some old stuff.

St. Peter's Basilica.

The Pieta.

Beyond Parody

The "Green" movement is the perfect home for the anal-retentive. Really, this nonsense just leaves me verbally retentive.

Look Familiar?

My picture from the Cliffs of Moher posted on the blog last August.

Laura's picture of the Cliffs of Moher posted on the blog a few days ago.

They're almost identical. Mine was taken from a little bit farther out towards the water.

Europe Pictures-Prague

I really wish that was me in that balloon.
The Rudolfino theater where we saw the concert.
This wall that I could never find to look at close up. I'm not exactly sure what it is.
The Cathedral at Prague Castle.

I'll put up some pictures of Rome later. Blogger is really annoying.

Europe Pictures-Prague

The view from Prague castle.
Entrance to Prague castle.
The astronomical clock.
Charles Bridge.
Us on the Charles Bridge. Notice the couple making out in the corner of the picture.

Europe Pictures-Nice

The beach in Nice has rocks instead of sand.

The view from the castle ruins.
The Cathedral in Monaco where Princess Grace was married and buried.
The Palace in Monaco. It was hard getting good pictures from the tourist train.

Europe Pictures-Santorini 2

Kendra and I rode donkeys up that treacherous terrain. Never again.
Santorini and the Old Port from the boat.
We saw the Parthenon, and I was underwhelmed.
Keira up on the hill with Athens in the background. Athens is a weird city.

Europe Pictures-Santorini

The sand is black from the volcanic rock. You have to run from your towel to the water or you will burn your toes off.
Santorini sunset.

The hillside.
We climbed a volcano. I didn't get any good pictures of the volcano as a whole, but this picture gives you the idea of the terrain.

Europe Pictures-Ireland

The River Liffey at 6 am on our first day across the pond.
Irish cows.
The Cliffs of Moher.
Mooo.
Mom-I'm pretty sure those hills across the water are part of Connemara. At least, thats what the tour bus driver said.

Media Hysteria, Part II

This is why print journalists believe that the world is spinning out of control. THEIR world actually is out of control, and they think that it's the only one.

Obama Sez, #xtothenthdegree

I'm sorry. This one really makes me gag.

"We know what kind of campaign they're going to run. They're going to try to make you afraid," Obama said at the fundraiser. "They're going to try to make you afraid of me. He's young and inexperienced and he's got a funny name. And did I mention he's black? He's got a feisty wife."

Demonize the opposition, before they demonize you. You're no different, Obama. You're every politician that ever lived. And, on top of that, you are a racist.

Headline in Lancaster Farming Magazine

"NODPA demands Living Wage for Organic Dairy Farmers" Where to start? Does NODPA(Northeast Organic Dairy Producers) realize that a "wage" is something that is paid by an employer? And that these "Organic" Dairy Producers are SELF-employed? And that they, individually, elected to become "organic" producers? And that they have no employer? That, they are, in fact, masters (and mistresses!) of their own businesses, and no one, anywhere, pays them a wage? And that if they WANT a wage, they should get a fricking job?

If This Kinda Thing Keeps Up...

...then I might need to find a new job:

Space Pictures

Check 'em out.

murphies.com

I was thinking an independent family domain name might make a good christmas present, so I checked out Murphies.com...It's worth a look. The father's name is Thomas, they adopt greyhounds, and support Dennis Kucinich. We have so much in common! Also, it hasn't been updated since 2000, and is pretty much the ugliest site I've ever seen.

Media hysteria.

Is everything spinning out of control??

We're powerless to control natural disasters, it turns out. Everybody panic?

Cruise Video!

I got to do what the guy with the glow stick standing just to the right of the engines is doing. It was very loud and probably the coolest thing I've ever seen....except for Hong Kong.

Cruise Pictures

Sunset in the South China Sea.

That's China behind me.

Hong Kong Island on the right, the mountain in the clouds is Victoria Peak, Kowloon is on the left. The tall building on the left is only half done. It will be the International Commerce Centre, and will be taller than 2 IFC (bottom).

The Reagan.

1 International Finance Centre on the right, the tall one is 2 International Finance Centre. All those buildings are connected at the bottom by an enormous shopping mall. We tried to go up to the observation deck of 2 IFC, but we got there too late and it was closed. The building in between the IFC buildings is the Four Seasons Hotel. IFC 2 is about 250 ft taller than the Reagan is long.
